200 Runners turned out in chilly weather to compete in a 4 Mile run on Sunday March 27th just prior to the St Patrick’s Parade in Patchogue. The race route began on East Main Street and meandered down among various Patchogue streets ending in front of the Fire House on Jennings Ave. The Run was sponsored by the Patchogue Kiwanis Club in conjunction with the Village and the Chamber of Commerce.
Volunteers included Kiwanis families, Key Clubbers and Venture Crew from Patchogue Medford High School and Key Clubbers from Bellport High School. Winning times were posted by Brendan Barrett of Sayville in the Male Division with a time of 22:01.8 and Christa Morris of Patchogue in the Female Division with a time of 25:373 which was also an event best time. Robert Festa won the Top Law Enforcement Officer category with a time of 29:066. Several kids under 14 competed in a ½ mile fun run just after the main race. Kiwanis Race Chairman, Nicholas Harding who awarded the trophies and prize money, said the race ran smoothly and was a good preparation for the Kiwanis Club’s “Twilight Trot” which will be held in Patchogue on August 14th as a Grand Prix racing event.
