Trying out a rocking chair is Past President of Patchogue Kiwanis and Past Board Chairman at BMHMC, Walter Ladick, Jr.. Looking on from behind is Patchogue Kiwanis President, Angelo Tarantino. On the right of Mr. Ladick is Tammy Cornacchiulo, a registered nurse in the Pediatric Unit. She was responsible for initiating awareness of a need for a new appearance with new furniture and curtains. The walls of the room are painted with a bright and colorful country scene provided by the Splashes of Hope art group. Electronic games and a library of children’s books are provided for the families who are visiting a pediatric patient. Looking on from behind is a contingency of Patchogue Kiwanis members who helped in providing the funds for the purchase of special furniture and equipment required for the room. The Patchogue Kiwanis Club has provided nearly $500,000 in assistance for the Pediatric Unit since the club’s chartering of the 321 bed hospital in 1954.
