The Patchogue Kiwanis Club attracted 100 runners from as far as Washington DC, by sponsoring a 4 mile run moments before the start of the Annual St Patrick’s Parade sponsored by the Village of Patchogue and the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce. The run commenced at Finest Fitness on East Main Street and proceeded westerly through commercial and residential streets and then finished in front of the Patchogue Fire House. In addition, there was a ½ Mile Fun Run in which Kids under 9 competed. Turning points were monitored by Patchogue Kiwanians, Patchogue Medford High School Key Clubbers and Venture Crew, and also by Bellport High School Key Clubbers. Patchogue Kiwanis Race Chairman, Nick Harding awarded prizes to the Winner of the Women’s Overall category, Mandie Samuels, of Washington DC with a time of 26 minutes and 6 seconds and the Winner of the Men’s Overall category, Dan McGrath of Lynbrook with a blazing time of 20 minutes and 29 seconds. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one community and one child at a time.
